All the Answers You Seek, In One Place

Why EMDR?

Visit the “What is EMDR?” tab for more information about this type of therapy. In my experience I have seen EMDR work for many clients with a variety of presenting concerns. Some clients had spent years in therapy working on the issue and once they tried EMDR saw a more significant improvement. On average clients see long lasting results with EMDR in fewer sessions in comparison to other psychotherapies. EMDR does not require clients to discuss past events in detail which is ideal for people who have a hard time talking about what has happened to them.

What if I don’t want to do EMDR?

That is completely fine! I have training and experience in a variety of different models and techniques and don’t just treat trauma. Contact me or schedule a session to see how I can help.

How do I get started?

Contact me to schedule an appointment and/or brief phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. One of the most important parts of successful therapy is having a good fit with your therapist. Not all therapists are the same and not all clients' needs are the same.

If we decide we may be a good fit for each other, the first session will be spent gathering information about your history, current concerns, therapy goals, and creating an initial plan of action. Future sessions will focus on helping you reach your therapeutic goals.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies due to different needs of every client. I work with you to determine what your goals are and we make a plan for reaching these goals. Typically I start with weekly sessions and we will continue to assess your progress together until we agree to reduce sessions to bi-weekly, monthly, or complete your therapy. For some this could take just a few sessions and others may need to be longer.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. Check the "insurance" tab for the insurance companies I currently work with. If you don't see your company on the list,  I have found that some insurance companies will reimburse clients for therapy sessions with out of network providers if they have the required documentation. Contact your insurance company to see what your options are and let me know if I need to provide you with a session receipt.
